Novella’s Full Bio
The youngest of my clients was a two week old baby girl. She was born with Torticollis, a twist of the neck tissue in painful spasm which resulted from her position in the womb. With the issue resolved after a short time, as we supported the work of her rehab team, she grew normally. The oldest of my clients was 104 years old. It was the first massage of those 104 years. Her comment, when I checked on her the next day was, “I slept the best that I have slept in over half a century, and straight through the night!”
My clients come from many directions. Some come referred by doctors or chiropractors, who send them in for specific work on specific problem areas. They arrive with prescriptions in hand. I attend to their issue. Some are sent while participating in rehabilitation, some are sent after rehabilitation is finished. Most clients come in as a result of my having worked with their family member, neighbor, co-worker, or friend. I work with each and every client, with their specific pain or problem, as an individual, whether they are sent by another person on their health care team or come in on their own. It is deeply rewarding for me to witness the return of pain free living and health and ease in life. After people have found me, or have been sent by family members or doctors, they weep twice. First they weep when I tell them that they CAN be pain free and play with their children/grandchildren, living normal, healthy lives. Then, as our work together progresses, they reach that pain free place. Often very quickly we resolve the painful issue. When I point out how far they have come, and that they are NOW pain free, they weep once more, with joy.
My present occupation of Massage Therapist began with an interest in Polarity Therapy, due to my own need for healing. Certification of Associate Polarity Practitioner was awarded in 2003. Licensure from the state of North Carolina and National Certification for Massage and Body Work was appointed on March 24, 2004. My massage certifications include Pregnancy Massage and massage techniques from around the world, including Maya Abdominal Therapy from Rosita Arvigo in Belize. Study continues and is ongoing, of the most advanced and cutting- edge techniques in the medical and therapeutic field. This combination of techniques creates a blend of bodywork that is used successfully in my Pain-Management/ Specific Injury practice. To date, the greatest requests for appointments come from chronic-pain and acute-pain clients. We have seen great results and relief for persons suffering from diverse illness and injury, including stroke. Maintenance massage assists clients in remaining in their newly-achieved, pain-free condition. It is rewarding to work with people of such determination toward wellness and healing. My appreciation goes out to the hundreds of clients who have come from near and far, supporting and allowing me to assist them in living their most active and pain-free lives, during all these years.
Although massage is my main occupation, I remain interested in all aspects of the body-mind-spirit. Reiki training began in January, 2003. Reiki Master Certification was received on June 17, 2006. My interests continue to include all types of energetic healing techniques all of which tap the deep wisdom of the body. Native American training includes Certification as Vision Quest Protector, along with living in harmony with nature in a sustainable way.
